Sheldon
Sheldon is a 6 year old Percheron gelding who joined the unit in April 2024. He stands at 16.3 hands high and weighs over 1,700 lbs. Sheldon is a sweetheart and is adjusting well to the Unit and his life as a Mounted Patrol Officer.

Tonka
Tonka, a 6 year old Spotted Draft gelding, joined the unit in October 2023. He stands at 17.3 hands high and weighs over 1,700 lbs. Tonka has a big, goofy, puppy-dog personality when not on patrol. He loves running on the beach at our annual beach ride event.

Hawk
Hawk is a 4 year old Clydesdale gelding who joined the unit in 2024. He stands at 17.3 hands high and weighs just under 1,500 lbs. Hawk joined the unit as a trained police horse and has enjoyed getting to know the beach environment.

Titan
Titan is a 7 year old Clydesdale gelding who joined the unit in December 2023. He stands at 16.3 hands high and weighs over 1,400 lbs. Titan loves horse treats but. unlike his stable mates, does not like Twizzlers or peppermints. Titan has excelled with his continuing training plan, learning patrol techniques, and special events within the community.

Grayson
Grayson, a 14 year old Clydesdale gelding, joined the unit in 2019. He stands at 17.3 hands high and weighs almost 1,500 lbs. Grayson has a very calm and gentle nature and enjoys grazing in the field. Although he is a tall draft horse, he is surprisingly agile and a very good mover. He loves meeting new people on the street and getting his head scratched.

Raider
Raider is an 8 year old Percheron gelding who joined the unit in July 2023. He stands 17.3 hands high and weighs just under 1,900 lbs. Raider is a handsome boy who enjoys patrolling the beach.

Clyde
Clyde is a 6 year old Clydesdale gelding who joined the unit in May 2024. He stands at 16.3 hands high and weighs over 1,300 lbs. Clyde loves treats and will do just about anything to get them!

Apollo
Apollo, a 9 year old Suffolk Punch gelding, joined the unit in December 2021. He stands 16.1 hands high and weighs over 1,600 lbs. Apollo is a goofy boy and loves to get in the water trough to splash around. He definitely has more woah than go but is easily motivated by snacks!

Allegra
Allegra, also known as Allie, and formerly known as Cookie, is an 11 year old Clydesdale/Hanoverian cross mare, She joined the unit in 2022 and stands at 16.2 hands high. Since she is one of our girls, we won’t discuss her weight! Allie is very sweet-natured and patient and loves interacting with our citizens. She has the unique ability to fall asleep when there is a lot going on around her!

Lilly
Lilly, a 6 year old Belgian Draft mare, joined the unit in October 2024. She is a tall girl at 18 hands high! She has a very sweet demeanor.

Jusino
Jusino is a 20 year old Quarter Horse/Oldenburg cross gelding who has been serving the unit since 2015. He stands at 16.1 hands high and weighs over 1,300 lbs. Jusino is a playful and mischievous guy. He likes to pick on his partner when he knows he can get away with it!

Tortuga
Tortuga is an 18 year old Percheron mare who joined the unit in 2018. She stands at 17.3 hands high. Prior to joining the unit, Tortuga was part of the EquiKids Therapeutic Riding Program in Virginia Beach. Tortuga is very inquisitive and loves sensory training and neck scratches.

Prince
Prince, a 6 year old Percheron gelding, joined the unit in 2022. He stands at 17.3 hands high and weighs in at just under 1,700 lbs. He loves cleaning up the remnants of hay that his fellow equine officers leave behind and always enjoys carrots from his not-so-secret admirer!

Big Busta
Big Busta is a 17 year old Thoroughbred/Percheron Cross gelding who joined the unit in 2018. He stands at 16.1 hands and weighs over 1,400 lbs. Busta loves food and will be your friend for life if you give him a treat (that he’s NOT supposed to have!). He also loves the water whether it be splashing in the ocean or taking a swim in the lake.

Sergeant Timmy
Timmy is a 10 year old tabby cat who has been serving the unit since 2020. He stands at 2.3 hands high. After years of service as a couch potato, he applied to become a barn cat. He successfully completed a rigorous training program where he slept for 3 days and ate all food that was offered. After witnessing his impressive resolve, the Mounted Unit decided he had the requisite skills to keep the office seats warm. Timmy has not let the unit down! He continues to work his zone daily and keeps tabs on the food. He is not afraid to sound the alarm when food is not readily available.
